‘I love Stephanie Fawbert’s work, particularly her recent oil paintings. They offer an intimate glimpse into a moment between people that is often candid, gentle, and also completely familiar. You recognise the way a child looks into the camera lens – sullen, challenging, mistrustful – or how a mother’s focus is drawn to her children during a party. Sometimes just the casual scratching of an ear or the way an arm is thrown possessively over an animal is enough to place you in that quiet moment. The gaze is warm, generous and inviting. You are sharing something special with the artist – or rather, she is sharing it with you – and it is always captivating.’
